| Adantium capillis-veneris | Adantiaceae | Maidenhair Fern |
Description - A very delicate little fern with fan shaped leaflets on thin flexible stalks. A popular pot plant.
Habitat - On mortared walls.
Comments - This species is a calcicole (lime lover). It is only found in Guernsey on certain walls in Town where it has probably spread from pot plants. It is found as a native in one gully on the north coast of Jersey. Most of Guernsey is composed of acid igneous or metamorphic rocks so this species is only found in man-made habitats in the island along with three other commoner species: Wall-rue, Maidenhair Spleenwort and Rustyback.
