| Aethusa cynapium | Apiaceae | Fool's Parsley |
Description - The white umbels of Fool's Parsley have characterisitic long green bracts hanging beneath them. Leaves are not unlike a flat-leaved Parsley leaf, but are darker green and somewhat more robust.
Habitat - Commonly a plant of cultivated land, so found in vegetable patches, and arable fields which have not had herbicides applied.
Comments - This is not a common plant in Guernsey, but can be found in most parishes. It should not be readily confused with the real Parsley; if in doubt rub the leaves which have an unpleasant odour without any trace of the distincive Parsley scent. Do not taste, as it is slightly poisonous.
