| Helvella lacunosa | Helvellaceae | Elfin Saddle |
Helvella lacunosa, Elfin Saddle. Closely related to the White Saddle, this species is darker, with a smokey grey "cap", with part of the cap margin fused to the buff-coloured stipe. It is quite common in mainland Britain, but the first record for Guernsey was made when a sample was discovered by a member of the College of F.E. Fungus evening class in 2006, growing in a park amongst the undergrowth. It can reach about 15cm high, which is larger than the White Saddle.
