Russula virescens, Greencracked Brittlegill. Green colouration in the Fungi Kingdom is very unusual, as they do not contain any chlorophyll and do not photosynthesize. However, here is one that has a definite green pigmentation to the cap surface. It is also charaterisically cracked as shown, thus is quite easily identified. It is said to be common, usually associated with Beech,but I have only found it in one location in Guernsey, in Town, under beech trees. It is edible.
